Help after a fall

A fall is the moment most families first go looking for help. Sometimes it is a fracture and a hospital stay. Often it is a fall with no injury at all — but it changes everything, because now everyone knows it can happen.

The frightening statistic is the second fall. Someone who has fallen once is far more likely to fall again, and the fear of falling makes people move less, which makes them weaker, which makes the next fall more likely.

What is included

• Help getting up, dressed and to the bathroom safely
• Standby support while walking
• Clearing tripping hazards from walkways
• Bathroom safety during showers
• Making sure therapy exercises get done
• Watching for dizziness and medication side effects
• Support after a fracture or hip surgery
• Overnight coverage if falls happen at night

Get help if

• There has been a fall in the last six months
• Someone has fallen more than once
• A parent is holding onto furniture to move around
• There was a fall that nobody witnessed
• Someone is afraid to move around their own house

If a fall has already led to a hospital stay, we take same-day discharge referrals and can have someone at the house when they get home.
